What's that?
UC Santa Cruz's irresponsible plans for expansion will affect the daily life of everyone in the greater Santa Cruz area. The new Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) threatens to:
- Trade quality of education for increasing quantity of students
- Destroy 120 acres of beautiful forest, building new roads and facilities in the undeveloped upper campus.
- Expand prestige-generating graduate programs and privately-funded research while cutting back undergraduate programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
- Make Santa Cruz even more expensive and overcrowded. Housing, traffic, and water resources are already nearing a point of crisis.
And that's only the beginning.
